COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN) -- Police still have more questions than answers after the discovery of body parts inside a Franklinton-area home Thursday.
A maintenance worker was going into 444 Holton Ave around 11 a.m. when he made the discovery.
"One of the sergeants we talked to who was first on the scene said it was one the most disturbing scenes he'd seen in 21 years of doing this," said Columbus Police spokesperson Denise Alex-Bouzounis.
One person was questioned, but later released.
Three people live at the home, according to detectives. Alex-Bouzounis wasn't sure if they noticed the body parts earlier, but she noted that they could smell a foul odor as they approached the home.
"Inside the house I'm sure was a lot stronger," she said.
Police are guarding the scene and allowing the home to air out before they go back inside on Friday. They say the part that was found was a leg. It has been sent to the coronor's office to try and identify who it belongs to.
The case remains under investigation.
