ETNA, Ohio (WTVN) --The Southwest Licking Community Water & Sewer District has placed the area of Taylor Rd. north of Cleveland Rd. under a boil advisory until further notice.

A car hit a fire hydrant Thursday, causing depressurization of the system.

Subdivisions affected include Brooksedge, Taylor Glen, The Woods at Taylor Estates and as well as Havens Corner Rd.

Any water you plan to use for cooking, consumption or first aid should be brought to a full rolling boil for 1-3 minutes before you use it.

Water samples will be sent to an independent laboratory for testing, a process that usually takes about 30 hours.  As soon as the water samples pass inspection, affected customers will be notified that the boil advisory has been lifted.

Customers in the surrounding area not affected by the boil advisory may experience discolored water.  Unless you received a hand delivered red notice of the boil advisory, your water is safe to use. However laundry should be avoided until the discoloration clears.

Customers with questions can call 740-927-0410 or the SWLCWSD's website.
