DELAWARE, Ohio (WTVN) --Two Columbus brothers and two of their friends have been indicted on charges connected to break-ins at eight stores in Columbus, Dublin and Hilliard.
Michael Beverly III, 57, and his brother Gary M. Ferrell, 54, each face a total of 24 charges including breaking and entering, vandalism, safecracking and tampering with evidence.
Also named in the indictment are 32-year-old Alan C. Jarrell and 35-year-old Peggy Sue Busellato, both of Columbus. Jarrell is friends with Ferrell. Busellato is Beverly’s girlfriend.
Delaware County Prosecutor Carol O'Brien says the four broke into a number of stores between September and December, 2013.
Targeted stores included Music Go Round, Dots Fashions, Catherine’s, Hallmark, Cottage Inn Pizza, Piada Italian Street Food, The Oreck Store, and Casual Male XL.
“These defendants caused a great deal of property damage, often forcing through a back door and even breaking throughwalls to gain entry into neighboring retail stores,” O'Brien said. “Once inside, they would grab merchandise and cash.”
O'Brien says the cost to repair the vandalism combined with the cost of lost merchandise totals more than $86,000.
