CHILLICOTHE, Ohio (WTVN) -- People in Ross County are upset after a man discovered a dead dog lying in the snow near his home.
The man was checking his property near the Pleasant Valley Wildlife area on Egypt Pike north of Chillicothe when he found the dog just feet away from a mangled cage.
The dog appears to be very young, likely no more than a year old.
"I don't know if it's weather related but people just don't care about animals they don't care about life," said the man, who asked to remain anonymous, told our news partners at ABC 6.
The Ross County dog warden tells us she'll investigate the case, but doesn't think there is much they can do without someone coming forward with information about the dog or the case.
If you know what happened to the dog or who the owner is, contact the Ohio SPCA at OhioSPCA@frontier.com or call 740-420-2984.
Meanwhile, a Facebook group made up of pet rescuers is trying to raise money to fund a reward for information that leads to the person responsible.
