DELAWARE, Ohio (WTVN)--A Franklin County doctor has pled guilty to charges related to the death of a pregnant mother of two children.
Dr. Ali Salim entered a guilty plea Thursday to two counts of involuntary manslaughter, rape, tampering with evidence, and abuse of a corpse for contributing to the death of Deanna Ballman and her unborn child.
Ballman was found dead in her car in July 2012. Investigators say she died of a heroin overdose, and was responding to an online job ad posted by Salim. She was nine months pregnant at the time.
Salim was indicted in February on the charges, and could get up to 37 years in prison when sentenced, with that hearing set for December 20th.
Delaware County First Assistant Prosecutor Kyle Rohrer said, "Mr. Salim faces 37 years in prison, but no prison sentence will ever make up for the loss this family has suffered."
