COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN) -- A family of four is safe after a house fire Thursday afternoon on N. Warren Ave. on the west side of Columbus.

Firefighters were called to 26 N. Warren Ave. just before 2:30 p.m. They found a home on fire, but everyone had made it out safe. The family credits one of their three dogs for alerting them to the fire.

Two neighboring homes were also damaged by the flames.

One firefighter was taken to Mt. Carmel West with heat exhaustion. Another was taken to the hospital with a possible broken hand.

West Broad Street is shut down because firefighters had to stretch fire hoses across the road to fight the fire.
