COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN) --Columbus Police will conduct two sobriety checkpoints on Friday night and Saturday morning.

One location is Sullivant Ave. and Clarendon Ave. from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. The second will be at Georgesville Rd. at Atlanta St. from 1 a.m. to 3 a.m.

Sgt. Michael Smith with the Columbus Police Traffic Bureau says the Sullivant-Clarendon intersection is located between two other intersections with an unusually high number of crashes involving impaired drivers.

Like the first location, Georgesville Road and Atlanta Drive was also selected for its location between two other intersections.

Drug Recognition Expert officers, who are specifically trained to detect and process those impaired drivers, will be assigned to both checkpoints.

The Franklin County DUI Task Force has also announced plans for a checkpoint starting at 9 p.m. Friday night and running through 1 a.m. Saturday on Norton Rd., south of West Broad St.
