COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN) -- The search is on for a man responsible for at least 16 bank robberies and 3 CVS Pharmacy robberies. The FBI has dubbed the unknown suspect the "Buckeye Bandit."
"He was wearing Ohio State shirts and hats, not it all of them, but in many of them, so we've given him the label the Buckeye Bandit," said the FBI's Todd Lindgren.
The FBI is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to the identification, arrest and conviction of this bank robbery suspect. Anyone with information can call the Buckeye Bandit Tip Line at (614) 849-1896.
The suspect is described as a black male approximately 25-30 years of age. He is believed to be approximately 5’11” to 6’0” tall, 170-185 pounds with an athletic build.
"He has carried a dark handgun in several of the robberies so we do consider him armed and dangerous," Lindgren said.
Most of the robberies have been in the Ohio State University campus area, another reason for the nickname.
The robberies began in September 2013. The latest was last week.
