COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN) --Ohio's first-ever Diverging Diamond Interchange, or DDI, opens Monday afternoon on Columbus's west side.

According to the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT), the interchange shaped like a diamond will allow more vehicles to travel more efficiently and safely through the interchange instead of waiting in separate turn lanes to get on the freeway.

The project, completed almost a week ahead of time, took 90 days.
