BAINBRIDGE, Ohio (WTVN) -- Kayakers discovered the body of a woman in Paint Creek in southwestern Ross County Saturday afternoon.

Lt. Mike Preston with the Ross County Sheriff's office says the discovery was made around 3:30 p.m. The body was found on a sandbar in the 500 block of Falls Road just west of the community of Bainbridge.

Preston said the body appeared to have been under the water for some time and likely got hung up on the sandbar as water levels dropped.

A race or age of the woman was not immediately available. Preston says she appeared to be clothed. The body has been sent to the Montgomery County Coronor's Office in Dayton for an autopsy and identification.

As of now, the death is being treated as suspicious.
