ST. MARYS, Ohio (WTVN) -- Authorities are awaiting an autopsy to explain the death of a western Ohio man killed in an apparent freak accident.

The Auglaize County Sheriff's office says the body of 36-year-old Richard Moon was found Sunday afternoon hanging upside-down from a bridge.

"His leg and foot was caught in a guardrail support post," said Sheriff Al Solomon.

Moon's vehicle was found in a ditch nearby. Solomon said it wasn't far from Moon's home.

"We know that he was there for some time, but we're not sure on the amount of hours and I don't want to speculate on that," Solomon said.

An autopsy is being performed in Lucas County. Solomon says they hope to learn if Moon had any other injuries, though none were visible.

Foul play and suicide have been ruled out.

Solomon says Moon grew up in the area and has extensive family there, including his parents and children.
