COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN) -- The last state-run BMV customer service center is closing on Friday.

The location on West Broad Street in Columbus at the Department of Public Safety Building will be moved to Hollywood Plaza, near Hollywood Casino. It will be a privately-operated deputy registrar.

"Now they will all be privately-run contracted agencies," said BMV spokesperson Lindsey Bohrer.

Auto Title West will also be located next door to the new branch location.

The new location opens for business on Monday and the auto title office opens in the fall.

The Ohio BMV estimates the move could have a $1 million economic impact on the west side of Columbus.

Unlike the current site, the new location will be open on Saturdays and Bohrer says parking will be more convenient for customers.

"The only thing missing from that will be the driver examination station, but there are several in the area located within 10 minutes," Bohrer said.

All of the employees currently working at the current location will be given other positions within the Ohio Department of Public Safety.
