WESTERVILLE, Ohio (WTVN) --A Westerville woman is charged with six counts of child endangering after police say she drugged the pancakes she fed children at her daycare center.

Tammy Elaine Eppley, 37, operated the Caterpillar Clubhouse out of her home on Fairdale Ave., near Otterbein Ave. and Schrock Rd.

Investigators believe Eppley crushed medications and supplements including melatonin and an allergy medicine into pancake batter which she cooked and served to the children.

The intent, police believe, was to make the kids drowsy.

Police say Eppley cared for five children in the home, ranging in age from 2 to 5 years old, along with her own 2-year old child.

Westerville Police Lt. Paul Scowden says investigators were tipped to the alleged scheme by a friend who had a disagreement with Eppley after Eppley had told her about what she was doing.

Each count is a first degree misdemeanor, punishable by up to 6 months in prison and a $1,000 fine.
