COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN)--A report from the State Department of Rehabilitation and Correction says two guards assigned to the cell block with Ariel Castro falsified their log reports the night Castro killed himself.

Officials says the two guards have been on paid administrative leave since the incident September 3rd at the Orient Correctional Institution. The DRC will now take their report for possible criminal charges against the guards. The State Highway Patrol is also conducting its own investigation.

Castro was serving a life sentence, plus 1000 years, for holding three women captive in his Cleveland home for about a decade. Amanda Berry, Gina DeJesus, and Michelle Knight were rescued from their home in May. Castro took a plea deal to avoid the death penalty.

While at Orient Correctional, he was found hanging by a bedsheet from the window of his cell the night of September 3rd. The report also says based on the circumstances surrounding his death, there's a possibility he died of auto-erotic asphyxiation.
