CHILLICOTHE, Ohio (WTVN) -- A Ross County man was wounded during a standoff with sheriff's deputies Thursday afternoon.

Deputies tried to talk with David Rutter about marijuana they found on his property at 502 Chester Hill Road. That's in southern Ross County.

"The sheriff's office was conducting a marijuana eradication, flew over the residence, noticed some marijuana plants growing at the residence," said Lt. Mike Preston with the Ross County Sheriff's Office.

When deputies on the ground arrived to talk with Rutter he met them with a shotgun.

Shots were fired during the standoff.

A medical helicopter was called to the scene after the situation ended just before 6 p.m. Rutter had been hit in the arm after deputies returned fire, according to Sheriff George Lavender.

No word on what charges Rutter might face.
