COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN) --Columbus police have identified one of the suspects in the January beating of a man who refused to pay an extortion-like "visitation tax".

Police believe Mohamud Ibrahim Mohamud of Wedgewood Drive is hiding out within the city's Somalian community.

Police accounts of the January 15 incident indicate the victim was surrounded by a group of men at an address in the 700 block of Doulton Ct, on the southwest side.

The group demanded payment of money, but the man refused, telling them they need to respect their people and elders.  That's when they attacked him.

The 33-year old man, who hasn't been identified, was seriously hurt.

Police are asking anyone with information to contact them or Central Ohio Crime Stoppers at 614-461-8477.
