SWAT situation ends in Utica

UTICA, Ohio (WTVN) -- A man is in custody after a search in Utica that ended in the parking lot of Utica High School.

The suspect, who hasn't been named, was wanted in connection with a shooting in Heath.

A SWAT team was called to a mobile home park on North Street in Utica around noon. Several people were evacuated and the North Fork Local Schools were placed on lock down.

A police helicopter and K-9 unit were called in a short time later.

An alert was issued to police officers to be on the lookout for a dark blue 1988 Dodge Dakota pickup truck with Ohio license plate FID8520.

Around 12:45 p.m. police were called to Utica High School on a report of a suspicious person in the parking lot. A short time later police announced the suspect had been taken into custody.
