CHILLICOTHE, Ohio (WTVN) -- A woman was flown to a Columbus hospital after being shot during a home invasion Friday morning.

Chillicothe Police Chief Roger Moore says the woman struggled with the man who had pulled a gun. The gun fired and the woman was struck in the shoulder. She had her three-year-old child in the home with her.

"The suspect fled the area," said Moore who considers the man armed and dangerous.

Chillicothe High School, Chillicothe Middle School, and Worthington Elementary School were all put on lock down.

Moore says it doesnt' appear that the woman knew the man and that the shooting appears to have been a random act.

The suspect is described as thin, wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and baggie jeans. He's about 5'7" around 150-160 pounds.
