Students taking gun safety message to Statehouse

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN) -- Some Columbus students are taking their concerns over school safety and gun laws to the Statehouse.

The students from Columbus Alternative High School are planning a rally Thursday afternoon, saying in a press release that "gun violence is not confined to one school, student, or state; it threatens every young person living in America."

The rally comes the same week that two Democratic state senators introduced a bill that would ban assault weapons in Ohio.

Five years ago, a similar bill was introduced but failed.
