Charges dropped against only suspect in Upper Arlington murder

UPPER ARLINGTON, Ohio (WTVN) -- Franklin County Prosecutor Ron O'Brien announced Tuesday morning that murder charges against Jeffery Lamar Smith have been dismissed.

Bond initially had been set at $1.5 million for Smith after he was arrested in connection with the stabbing death of Charles McCoy outside the China Dynasty restaurant in Upper Arlington.

Shortly afterwards, Smith was released on his own recognizance.

Now, apparently, Upper Arlington police believe someone else is responsible for the murder, but that person remains at-large.
