Columbus going to court to improve housing conditions

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN) -- The City of Columbus said Wednesday it's filed a lawsuit against companies that have allegedly violated the city's housing, health, sanitation and safety codes.

The lawsuit from City Attorney Zach Klein names three companies controlled by AMG Realty Group and its founder, Adam Glickman.

AMG owns the Mayfair Village Apartments, Hartford On The Lake and the Fitzroy Apartments--more than 800 units in all.

City of Columbus inspectors put AMG under its microscope last year after inspectors turned up what the city says was a record of chronic code violations.

In a release announcing the lawsuit, Klein notes AMG drew media scrutiny earlier this year when the ceiling collapsed onto a tenant at one of the units in the Mayfair Village apartment complex.

There was no immediate reaction to the lawsuit from AMG.
