Heroin Found in Car Next to Infant Child

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN)--Two people were arrested after Franklin County Sheriff's Deputies found a large amount of heroin in a vehicle, right next to an infant child.

Deputies made the seizure in the vehicle along Chagrin Drive in Columbus on Friday. They found over 2 kilos of the drug on the floorboard of the vehicle. That amount of drugs has a street value of about $400,000.

30-year-old Benjamin Merentes-Rincon and 24-year-old Emily Thomas were arrested and charged with possession of heroin. Merentes-Rincon has been deported at least twice before, and was determined to be in the United States illegally.

Trafficking charges are also expected to be filed.
