Five Homicides Across Columbus in First Weekend of 2021

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN)--After a year with a record number of homicides in the city of Columbus, CPD is now busy investigating five more homicides to start the year 2021.

The most recent incident from over the weekend happened along Azelda Street, around 7:30PM Sunday. Police were able to find a victim at the scene, who was taken to the hospital and later pronounced dead.

It also follows the incident where two girls, ages six and nine, were shot and killed by their father, who later committed suicide. That occurred along Danwood Drive on Friday.

The city recorded a record 144 homicides for a calendar year in 2020.
