COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN)--An Officer in the Ohio Department of Natural Resources died Tuesday, while responding to an emergency at a state park in Highland County.

ODNR says Office Jason Lagore was assisting with a call of teens falling through the ice at Rocky Fork State Park, when he suffered a medical emergency.

Lagore was taken to a hospital in Hillsboro, where he died.

In the incident, a 13-year-old boy and 16-year-old girl fell through the ice. The boy was taken to the hospital for treatment, and the girl was found unresponsive in the water. She was pronounced dead.

Officer Lagore served with the ODNR for 15 years, and led the division of parks and watercraft's K-9 academy.

He is survived by his wife Michelle, his two young sons, and his K-9 partner, Sarge. Governor Mike DeWine ordered flags to be flown at half-staff until the day of Lagore's funeral.
