More Arrests, Vehicles Seized as part of "Operation Wheels Down"

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN)--Columbus Police spent another weekend cracking down on ATV's and dirt bikes, driven illegally on city streets.

Officers conducted another enforcement blitz on Saturday, as part of "Operation Wheels Down", with 14 vehicles impounded, 18 people issued a summons or citation, and four people arrested.

Two stolen dirt bikes were also recovered, and two people were charged with "Felony Fleeing".

Officers also made contact with an 8-year-old, who was riding a dirt bike. CPD took advantage of the opportunity to turn it into a positive encounter, by educating the child and parents.

"Operation Wheels Down" began in May, with complaints of groups of people illegally operating the vehicles across the city.
