Blue Jackets forward Cam Atkinson with Jackets fan Charles Prior III
The Blue Jackets run to the playoffs and their exciting series with Pittsburgh has created quite a buzz in the city. Down 3-2 in their best of seven series with Pittsburgh, the Blue Jackets must win Monday night to extend their season.
The Jackets "5th line"--the fans--made a huge difference in the game four win in Nationwide last Wednesday and are hoping to do the same in Game 6. A limited number of Huntington Green Seat tickets went on sale Monday morning and fans, like Charles Prior III began camping out on Sunday. The Blue Jacket players--or at least one--noticed.
Prior posted a photo on Twitter Sunday night (above) with his arm around Atkinson, with the following message. "So we just had a visitor come visit us and pay for our tickets."
Atkinson didn't just do it for Prior. Elaine Shircliff, a communications intern for the AAA Blue Jackets, posted the photo below, with Atkinson and a host of happy Jacket fans.
Shircliff's tweet was as follows: "These lucky #cbj fans just got their tickets paid for by @CamAtkinson13 !! Story to come soon. #wearethefifthline."
According to the Blue Jackets, there were 10 lucky fans lined up Sunday night who got the special visit from Atkinson and now will see the game for free. The visit would have been special enough--to pay for the tickets is awesome.
I don't know what's going to happen in the game Monday night, but if you ask me, Cam Atkinson is the game's first star. Well done young man.
