It wasn't nearly as dramatic as when Randy Johnson obliterated a bird a decade ago, but it was still a nasty, untimely death for one of our feathered friends.
In a minor league game between the Fort Wayne Tin Caps and the Michigan White Caps, a bird picked the wrong time to fly through the infield. The bird buzzed between the pitchers mound and home plate--just after a pitch was delivered. Unfortunately--it was wrong place, wrong time for the bird which was struck down by the pitch. Unlike the Johnson incident, this was was hardly noticeable. The game was stopped for a moment so the groundskeeper could get the bird off the field. It was only on the replay that you could see the unfortunate timing that brought the bird down. Check it out here...and underneath that is the Randy Johnson incident. Nasty.
