With the NHL draft looming in Philadelphia Friday, it's a busy time for Blue Jackets General Manager Jarmo Kekalainen. The Jackets have the 16th pick in the first round and will grab a play Kekalainen says will contribute to the Blue Jackets, though it's not likely fans will see that player in Columbus this season.
"We're going to take our time and evaluate and see when they come to camp and see where they're at," Kekalainen told WTVN's Joel Riley on Monday morning. "Some players surprise you and are more mature than you think. Players in general these days are very mature physically but the most important part of the puzzle is the psychological or mental maturity."
Kekalainen said he will take the best player available with the Jackets early selections and will become more focused on filling position needs in later rounds.
