Newark police arrest 14 on drug trafficking charges

NEWARK, Ohio (WTVN) -- Police in Newark say it took them just six hours to round up fourteen people suspected of trafficking in drugs.

It was a joint operation, involving the Department's Special Operations Group, the Central Ohio Drug Enforcement Task Force, the Licking County Sheriff’s Office, Licking County Adult Probation, and the Newark Fire Department.

Newark Police say some of the suspects had already been arrested prior to the roundup.

Those suspects have been identified as: 

  • Misty Vanostran
  • Mary Rain
  • Craig Harris
  • Jerez Mayweather
  • Rodney S. Olinger

Others arrested include:

  • Samuel F. Allen Jr.
  • Scott A. Brooks II
  • Robert W. Clay
  • Joseph Brandon Elliot
  • Willie Haile
  • Sara M. Manning
  • Paul A. Parke
  • Joseph S. Swick
  • Sarah A. Vantu
  • Matthew A. Wheat
  • Jeffery Cook
  • Chad R. Dixon
  • Cody Glasmeier
  • Summer R. Greer

The operation also included an effort to get to people in the community affected by drug abuse.

A Newark Police Officer and a volunteer from the Newark Addiction and Recovery Initiative (NARI) were out providing people information about the program as the arrests were being made.
