LONDON, Ohio (AP) -Five Ohio peace officers who died last year in the line of duty are being honored Thursday.

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine and law enforcement officers from across the state are remembering the officers at the annual Ohio Peace Officers' memorial ceremony in London.

The ceremony honors the memory of 782 Ohio peace officers killed in the line of duty since 1823.

The officers who died last year include:

-Danville Police Officer Thomas Cottrell Jr.

-Columbus Police Officer Steven Smith

-Hilliard Police Officer Sean Johnson

-Ohio State Highway Patrol Kenneth Velez

-Chesapeake Police Officer Aaron Christian

Their names and those of seven historical inductees are being added to the Ohio Fallen Officers' Memorial Wall.

Hilliard will honor Officer Johnson again on May 19, the anniversary of his death, at First Responders Park.

Johnson was killed last year when his motorcycle hit a concrete barrier on I-270 during a training exercise.
