Busy Sports Saturday Ahead

They're not the Ohio State sports that are typically in the spotlight, but they will be--at the same time--less than a mile apart--on Saturday night.

The Ohio State men's Volleyball team, the defending national champions, will try to make it back-to-back when they face BYU in the championship match at 7:00 pm in St. John Arena. OSU advanced by winning its semifinal match with Hawaii Thursday in straight sets. Nearly 5,000 were on hand for that match and Ohio State is doing all it can to pack St. John Arena even more.

Just 30 minutes after the volleyball championship starts, the Ohio State Men's Lacrosse team faces Maryland for the Big Ten Championship. The game is at Jesse Owens Stadium. While the weather forecast is a bit iffy, the rain drops Thursday didn't affect the Buckeyes, who beat Johns Hopkins 15-13 in the Big Ten semifinals.

If the Ohio State options aren't enough, the Columbus Crew--just a couple miles from campus at Mapfre Stadium, are home to the New England Revolution at 7:30 p.m. as well.

I should also mention--a mere three miles from campus, the Columbus Clippers are scheduled to play baseball Saturday night at 6:15 p.m. I guess if you're a Columbus sports fan, who desires variety---Saturday night is your night.
