Browns quarterback Brock Osweiler raised some eyebrows Wednesday during his media session with reporters. Osweiler was acquired by the Browns in an off-season trade a year after he signed a huge free-agent deal with Houston that is widely regarded as a bust.
Osweiler--who got a 4-year, $72 million deal from the Texans, could not hold his job. He threw more interceptions (17) than touchdowns (16) and was wildly inconsistent. The Texans--looking to dump the huge contract--dealt Osweiler to the Browns in exchange for a pair of draft picks, including a second rounder in 2018.
Despite his obvious struggles, Osweiler spoke with confidence in his abilities and feels he's in the Browns QB mix, along with Cody Kessler and rookie DeShone Kizer. During an exchange with Cleveland.com's Doug Lesmerises, Osweiler was asked if he believed he was good enough start in the NFL.
"Absolutely," Osweiler answered. Lesmerises followed up with the question 'Why?' After a chuckle, Osweiler responded, "I think the proof is in the film for the past two years." The full exchange is below .
The comment quickly took off on Twitter and the responses from NFL fans who have witnessed Osweiler's on field struggles were funny and creative. Check it out here.
