West Nile virus found in mosquito trapped in Johnstown

NEWARK, Ohio (WTVN) -- Licking County's health department says mosquitoes that tested positive for the West Nile virus turned up in a trap in the Belt Park area of Johnstown.

The Health Department is inviting the public to a Mosquito Control Community Forum to discuss the most effective mosquito control methods. The event will take place at the Licking County Library on W. Main St. in Newark on Thursday, July 20, beginning at 6:30 p.m.

Meanwhile, Columbus's 2017 offensive against West Nile resumes Wednesday with spraying planned in the Hilltop, Eastmoor/Walnut Ridge and South Worthington neighborhoods.

On Thursday, the Near South and Far South sections of the city will be sprayed.
