Man accused of kidnapping, extortion in Reynoldsburg

REYNOLDSBURG, Ohio (WTVN) -- A man is in the Fairfield County jail, awaiting arraignment on charges of kidnapping, extortion and drug possession connected to an incident in Reynoldsburg.

Reynoldsburg police say Michael McKinney had driven a male and a female to the area around State Route 256 and Taylor Road Wednesday afternoon to get money to settle a debt.

The woman was able to call 911 and also alerted a witness to what was happening.

That person followed the vehicle as it left the Walmart parking lot on SR 256 toward Pickerington, relayed the information to a dispatcher and officers arrived a short time later.

They say McKinney tried to run from the scene but was caught and arrested in the parking lot of a Tim Hortons.
