CPD Task Force to Target "Porch Pirates"

COLUMBUS, Ohio (24-7 News)--The Columbus Police Department is announcing the creation of a new special task force aimed at stopping package thefts this holiday season.

The CPD said it was teaming up with the U.S. Postal Service, UPS, and Federal Express to create the task force nicknamed Special Delivery.

Police are asking anyone who suspects they have had a package stolen to report the theft no matter the value of the item taken so they know the areas being targeted.

Officials also released tips for combating porch pirates like tracking packages online, asking a neighbor to bring them inside if you are not home at delivery, and using a third party locker location until you can pick it up.
