Columbus Approaching Yearly Rainfall Record

COLUMBUS, Ohio (24-7 News)--Columbus is on pace to set a new record for the amount of rain and snow ever to fall on the city since it began tracking in 1879.

According to data from the National Weather Service in Wilmington, 2018 could be the wettest on record.  The precipitation in Columbus for the year, as of Sunday stood at 53.38-inches, just below the current record of 54.96-inches, which was set in 2011.

With two weeks still to go before January, a mere inch and a half are all that's needed to put 2018 in first place as the wettest year ever.
