COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN)--The Ohio State University has filed a trademark for one of the most commonly-used words in the English language.
The school filed a trademark application last week for "THE", with many fans and students emphasizing that word when saying the name of the school.
The university wants to use "THE" on a series of hats and t-shirts, even though other vendors already have clothing with "THE" in scarlet and gray.
Copyright experts do not expects the application to be successful.
The university previously filed trademarks for "Script Ohio" "O-H-I-O", and many other monikers associated with the university.
