CPD Officer Involved in East-Side Shooting

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN)--A Columbus Police Officer was involved in a shooting Wednesday evening on the city's east side.

The department says officers were dispatched to the scene along East Livingston Avenue around 9:30PM, where a suspect was standing near a gold vehicle, and holding a gun.

The officer approached the suspect, and during the interaction the suspect fled on foot, with the officer in pursuit.

The officer discharged their firearm and struck the suspect, who was apprehended a short time later. A firearm was recovered from the scene.

The suspect was taken to a local hospital, for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. No officers were injured.

The Columbus Police Critical Incident Response Team is now investigating.
