Five Candidates Remain for Columbus Police Chief Opening

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN)--The search for the new Chief of Police in the City of Columbus is now down to five candidates.

CPD releasing the list of those still in the running for the job. It includes Interim Chief Thomas Quinlan. He has overseen numerous reforms in the department this year, including the disbandment of the Vice Unit.

The other candidates include:

  • Perry Tarrant--Former Police Chief, Seattle, Washington
  • D. Samuel Dobson--Assistant Chief of Police, National Railroad Corporation (AMTRAK)
  • Colonel Alexander Jones--Chief of Community relations Bureau, Baltimore County Police, Maryland
  • Paul Neudigate--Assistant Police Chief, Cincinnati, Ohio

Interviews with each of the candidates is set for next week. The list will then be trimmed down again before community forums are held with the finalists.

Officials hope to have the position filled by the end of the year. Kim Jacobs retired as Chief of Police in February.
