Official: Mike Yurcich Hired At Texas

Texas has just named Mike Yurcich is their new offensive coordinator, with the deal being announced tonight on Twitter.

This past season, Yurcich served as the Ohio State passing game coordinator and quarterbacks coach. The Buckeyes averaged 263.1 yards per game through the air in 2019. Meanwhile, signal caller Justin Fields sits third nationally with 41 touchdown throws, and is fifth in passer rating.

Texas's Tom Herman has given up calling plays so he can focus on his head coaching duties, and although he did not call plays for the Buckeyes, Yurcich does have experience in that area, having done so during his six years at Oklahoma State.

Yurcich's arrival in Austin also paves the way to the departure of another former Buckeye assistant, as a 247Sports report by Chip Brown says that Longhorns quarterbacks coach Tim Beck has another job opportunity lined up.

And, after losing his job as the head coach at Rutgers, former Buckeye defensive coordinator Chris Ash has been hired to run the Texas defense.

At the same time, Ohio State is looking for a new defensive coach as well, as Jeff Hafley has left his position as co-defensive coordinator to take over at Boston College. He shared a parting message with OSU fans online this evening.
