COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN)--A Franklin County judge has upheld the order that cuts off alcohol service at bars and restaurants across Ohio at 10PM each night.

Judge Kim Brown heard a challenge to the order from a group of establishments in Columbus, led by attorney Ed Hastie. He had argued that the time limit was set arbitrarily, and there was no evidence that the cutoff time would stop the spread of COVID-19 in communities.

The judge said the order was in the best interest of public health. Governor Mike DeWine asked the Ohio Liquor Control Commission to issue the order last week, which went into effect on Friday.

Hastie had successfully argued for an injunction against a similar order for the city of Columbus
