COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN)--Governor Mike DeWine on Wednesday announced a new incentive for Ohioans to receive the coronavirus vaccine.

He says beginning May 26th, and continuing for 5 weeks, all vaccinated Ohioans age 18 and older will be entered into a drawing, with the winner receiving $1,000,000.

The pool of names will be taken from the Ohio Secretary of State's voter registration database. The Ohio Department of Health will sponsor the drawings, and the Ohio lottery will conduct them.

DeWine says a website will be set up for those who wish to enter the drawing. The money for the drawings will come from existing federal COVID-19 relief funds.

As for those aged 12 to 17, who are now eligible to receive the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine, DeWine says those in that age group who are vaccinated will be entered into a separate drawing, and the winner will receive a four-year full-ride scholarship to any Ohio college or university.

That drawing will also continue for 5 weeks, beginning May 26th.
