COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN)--Primary voters in Ohio's 15th congressional district, which includes much of central Ohio, have selected the two major party candidates that will face off in November.
Mike Carey won the GOP primary on Tuesday, emerging from a crowded field of 11 candidates. Carey is a former coal lobbyist, who received the endorsement of former President Donald Trump in his bid for office.
Allison Russo won the democratic primary in the district. She is a current State Representative, for Ohio's 24th district. That includes most of western Franklin County, Upper Arlington, and Hilliard.
Carey and Russo will now run against each other to take over the seat in Congress vacated by Steve Stivers. He left in May to become CEO of the Ohio Chamber of Commerce.
