Venus Williams will play for the Wimbledon championship for the first time since 2009, after winning her semifinal match against sixth-seeded Johanna Konta of Britain on Thursday (July 13th) 6-4, 6-2. The 37-year-old, 10th-seeded Williams will be trying to win her sixth Wimbledon and eighth Grand Slam, which would be her first since she won Wimbledon in 2008. Williams will play for the title against 14th-seeded Garbine Muguruza of Spain, who beat 87th-ranked Magdalena Rybarikova of Slovakia 6-1, 6-1 in their semifinal match.
The men's semifinals will take place today, with Roger Federer facing Tomas Berdych and Marin Cilic playing American Sam Querrey.
