UPDATE: Ohio State released this statement Tuesday night. "Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer has announced the termination of wide receiver’s coach Zach Smith. Coaching staff adjustments will be announced at a later date."
Attorney Brad Koffel joined 105.7 The Zone today to address accusations against his client, Ohio State wide receivers coach Zach Smith, which he claims are not true.
Reporter Brett McMurphy has detailed a 2009 arrest of the then Florida, now Buckeye assistant. The police report regarding the incident said, “From the statements made on scene, (the officers) determined Zach was the primary aggressor” in a dispute between him and Courtney Smith, whom Zach divorced in September 2016.
Courtney refused to press charges.
Then a 2015 police report with further allegations of domestic abuse came to light.
That case remains open, according to McMurphy.
Also open is a criminal trespass charge against Smith, which followed an earlier criminal trespass warning.
Koffel told The Zone he believes that charge will be dismissed and a subsequent domestic violence civil protection order filed against his client will be thrown out.
