McMurphy: "There's Worse Things I Can't Share"

In a stunning development, Ohio State today placed head football coach Urban Meyer on paid administrative leave while they investigate when he learned about domestic violence accusations against his former wide receivers coach Zach Smith.

One major impetus for that investigation has been the reporting of Brett McMurphy, who argues Meyer knew of the allegations, at the latest, in 2015, not last week as Meyer had claimed.

This afternoon, McMurphy discussed that reporting on Fox Sports Radio

"Everything in my report is 100 percent documented," McMurphy told host Doug Gottlieb. "It's direct quotes, it's police reports, it's emails, it's text messages, it's photos. There is not one bit of information from an unnamed source in my story."

If there was so much evidence floating around for McMurphy to find, however, why would Meyer have kept Smith on staff?

McMurphy said he asked Courtney Smith, Zach's ex-wife and accuser that very question.

Her answer, according to McMurphy: "Zach once told me if he ever got fired  and this all comes out, I will take everyone at Ohio State down."

When Gottlieb pointed out this sounded like blackmail, McMurphy agreed.

"There's  worse things that I can't share, because--I just can't for various reasons. But there's worse things than that," he said.
