Former Ohio State assistant Zach Smith joined 105.7 The Zone with his first comments since his firing.
Smith was let go after reports surfaced that his ex-wife, Courtney Smith, had accused him of domestic abuse multiple times since 2009, when Smith was then with the Florida Gators.
During his interview Smith denied ever hurting his ex-wife.
He said Ohio State athletics director Gene Smith contacted him after a incident when police were called in 2015.
And he said he didn't know the origin of photos showing injuries to Courtney Smith, but admitted they could be the result of situations that got "out of hand." However, he claimed those were situations involving self-defense on his part, or a case where he was trying to restrain his ex-wife.

Head coach Urban Meyer is on paid administrative leave while the university determines if he followed proper protocol in his handling of the situation, which Meyer maintained in a tweet issued this afternoon that he did.
