Ohio State Timeline Becoming Clearer

Ohio State's Board of Trustees is being briefed today on the findings of a two-week investigation "involving Urban Meyer."

Originally, the focus of the inquiry was Meyer's handling of domestic violence accusations against former assistant Zach Smith. However, a Yahoo report out this afternoon suggests it has since gone beyond that.

It’s become increasingly clear as the investigation has unfolded that it has been rigorous and meticulous. Sources told Yahoo Sports the interviews have spanned different departments, included checking cell phone records, email correspondence and conducting multiple interviews with multiple parties over the two weeks.

The informational session today will be accompanied by a Board of Trustees meeting Wednesday at 9 a.m. and even after that, Ohio State fans will have to wait a bit longer to learn the fate of their football coach.

"Following deliberations with the board, and appropriate time for consideration," a university press release read, "President Michael V. Drake will announce his decision."

The Columbus Dispatch, citing two sources "connected to the investigation," reported it is likely the recommendation will be for Meyer to serve a suspension of some sort.

They added it's also possible that the fact that Meyer has been on paid administrative leave since August 1st could factor into Drake's decision-making process, and he could opt for something akin to "time served."

During Meyer's absence, Ryan Day has served as the Buckeyes acting coach.
