Buckeyes Honor Thad Matta

Ohio State men's basketball honored former coach Thad Matta by hanging a banner listing some of his accomplishments in the rafters of the Schottenstein Center.

Those accomplishments include five Big Ten titles and two trips to the Final Four. With 337 victories, he's the winningest coach in Buckeye history.

The banner was unveiled at halftime of the team's 72-62 loss to Syracuse.

"I'm not sure I deserve that being up there," Matta told fans, "but since it's up there, what the hell? Let's keep it."

Will he get back into coaching? He told reporters that he's following the sport a little more seriously now than he did last year, but he also appreciated that after attending a recent Butler game, he was able to go straight home and sleep.

"Look, I'm not going to apologize to people for being happy," he said.

After this ceremony, Matta spoke to the local media about what the honor meant, what he remembers about this time at Ohio State, and what he is up to now.
