The national headlines today will probably focus on the Blue Jackets defections. Sergei Bobrovsky signed with the Florida Panthers. Matt Duchene landed with the Nashville Predators. Artemi Panarin has moved on to join the New York Rangers.
However, the Blue Jackets also signed a player on the first day of free agency, adding former Red Wings and Sharks winger Gustav Nyquist.
"I'm sure the media will talk about that," said Nyquist of the three high profile free agents leaving the city on the same day he agreed to come to Columbus. "There's going to be opportunities for other guys, and I'm one of the guys here that are going to try to fill some of those holes."
